Three Ways to Store Your Christmas Decorations
Easy Storage Solutions Without the Extra Cost

The Christmas season is full of fun until the cleaning begins.Storing your Christmas decorations should be fun and easy. It can even be a joyful experience to share with family and friends. There is absolutely no reason to fuss about cleaning up to start a clutter-free year in your home. Here are three easy ways of storing Christmas decorations:
Bags & Boxes
Many sizes of bags and boxes are available in your nearest supermart or craft store. Garlands, tree skirts, pillows, and stockings may be stored in fabric drawstring bags; however, the most convenient and affordable choice may be plastic trash bags, which are available in various colors. Since these decorations will be reused next Christmas, protect them from mold, mildew and dust by securing the bags with a nylon cord, tape or an airtight knot. For smaller items, kitchen zip-lock bags are very useful.
Use stackable boxes in the corner of a storage room, basement, or garage. Color-coded boxes make finding items easier when needed. For small ornaments like Christmas balls, purchase an ornament box that looks like an egg crate, or recycle one from your kitchen. Specialty boxes sold in retail stores are perfect for Christmas wreaths. Always seal your boxes to protect against household pests. Label the containers properly.
Recycle
Look around for any unused container, boxes, or plastic bags that you can use for storage, without buying new ones. Creativity can help minimize the clutter in your home. Some decorations can be reused or given away as gifts for your family and friends. Try creating a collage out of old Christmas cards and have it framed.
Give Love
Donate your Christmas tree to a local church or community, or call the local park department or environmental group who will use the tree for restoration projects. Christmas trees can also be donated for a charitable cause or made as a memorial for a fallen soldier of war.
Avoid accidents by making sure you have the right equipment when cleaning up your home. When removing Christmas lights, unplug it to avoid minor burns, and roll it in a barrel of plastic, cardboard, or even a newspaper made into a roll. If children want to help in the storing process, make sure it's fun and safe for them, specially if dealing with objects that can cut and break – like glass balls. (Always keep your first-aid kit handy.) For convenience, use drawers on wheels and carts to move items easily. Store your decorations in an accident-free place. Have Fun and Be Safe!
